Roche invites Taoiseach to GRD Anniversary

Chairperson of Galway Rural Development, Cllr Pete Roche, has invited An Taoiseach Simon Harris to their headquarters at Mellows Campus this summer to mark the local development company’s 30th anniversary.

The organisation, which last week celebrated the securing of €4m through the Rural Regeneration Development Fund for Glenamaddy GAA Club, employs 70 full-time staff in six offices managing a dozen different programmes. This year, GRD are celebrating their 30th anniversary and has been having a schedule of events highlighting their work.

Cllr Roche said “We stand on the shoulders of giants in GRD, and our 30th anniversary is a perfect time to pay tribute to the many great women and men who have played a role in our history so far. We want to say thank you to all our past and current staff, directors, supporters, partners, clients, and funders. All have played a vital role in our community and made a real difference.” “I have invited the Taoiseach to Athenry so we can share the invaluable contribution that GRD hasmade to the county over the past three decades, The Taoiseach is well aware of the contribution of local development companies across the country and the contribution and impact of GRD stands with the very best in Ireland.”

CEO of GRD Steve Dolan added “For 30 years, the achievements of Galway Rural Development have been immense. The organisation is known far and wide for the quality, dedication, and knowledge of its staff. It is an honour to be CEO of this special family and we have much to look forward to this year, and over the coming years as our journey continues!”
